My nephew, Reid celebrated his first birthday about a week ago. I can’t believe he is already a year old. Living three hours away, I don’t get to see him and my niece as often as I’d like, but of course I didn’t want to miss his first birthday.
First birthdays are always interesting in the fact that it’s probably the only birthday that kids aren’t dying to open their gifts, and it was no different for Reid. He was rather curious once the gifts were opened, but of course didn’t understand it all. One-year-olds are at such a great age for exploring their world. Baby buddy, as his sister, Eva and the whole family have affectionately called him since he was in the womb (due to his gender being a surprise), definitely did some exploring at his first birthday. He absolutely loved getting messy eating his cupcake, and once the gifts were opened he enjoyed testing them out as well.
His party was at a park, and since it turned out to be a little rainy that day we had to deal with the weather a bit. It wasn’t a huge deal as we were under a shelter. Like with most storms, there is a silver lining. The silver lining was watching a carefree, innocent child run through puddles and giggle away. That was probably the happiest moment for him throughout the party. Here are some snapshots of Reid from the party. I could kiss those sweet little cheeks all day long!
